We ask for a donation for attendance at field and certain other events and suggest R100 for adults and R20 for children 11 years and younger, with the option of donating R300 PER FAMILY for an annual subscription in July each year.
Some venues will also require an entrance fee which must be paid by each individual.
For field trips we will supply vials, magnifiers, plastic pill bottles and some other basic collecting equipment, but please bring your own if you have as well as any reference books, a picnic lunch, adequate water, a hat and good walking shoes.

Get Ready to Celebrate 50 Years of Spiders!
Hey spider enthusiasts (and future spider enthusiasts)! Get ready to spin a web of fun because the Spider Club of Southern Africa is turning the big 5-0 this year, and we’re throwing a party to celebrate!
Join us for an epic, totally FREE family fun day where we’ll dive headfirst into the amazing world of eight-legged wonders. We’ll be doing some cool stuff like:
* Spider Safari! We’ll brave the winter chill to hunt for some creepy crawlies in their natural habitat.
* Web-Slinging Wisdom! Learn all sorts of fascinating facts about spiders and chat with fellow fans of these incredible creatures.
* Braai & Bites! Get ready to chow down on a delicious braai with snacks, wors rolls, and drinks, all on the house from the Spider Club!
* Hairy tarantula experience! Ever seen a big hairy tarantula up close? Well this is your chance as there will be some awesome LIVE specimens for you to look at, and even get to hold. Come and see why they are mostly just gentle giants.
* National Collection Sneak Peek! Ever wanted to see a seriously impressive collection of spiders? We’re talking about the National Collection of Arachnida, where you’ll get to ogle currently described (and even some yet-to-be-named!) specimens from all over Southern Africa. How cool is that?!
* Ever wanted to be able to capture all the amazing spiders you see? Well Jarrod will be on hand to give you a quick crash course in photography. Whether you’re rocking a fancy camera or just your phone, he’ll share some awesome tips to help you snap those perfect pics of our tiny, eight-legged friends.
This is going to be a seriously fun day out for the whole crew, but here’s the catch: spots are limited! So don’t be a web-footed slowpoke – make sure you RSVP to secure your spot!
