We ask for a donation for attendance at field and certain other events and suggest R100 for adults and R20 for children 11 years and younger, with the option of donating R300 PER FAMILY for an annual subscription in July each year.

Some venues will also require an entrance fee which must be paid by each individual. 

For field trips we will supply vials, magnifiers, plastic pill bottles and some other basic collecting equipment, but please bring your own if you have as well as any reference books, a picnic lunch, adequate water, a hat and good walking shoes.

Spider Club 50th birthday party – BLOEMFONTEIN

Come join us for the Spider Club of Southern Africa’s 50th birthday party at the botanical garden in Bloemfontein!
This will be the last of the Spider Club’s 50th birthday events, so it’s not one to miss!
We will have a braai (boerewors rolls), drinks, and cake in the lapa, and also explore the gardens to find spiders. Remember to bring a hat and water, as well as hiking shoes. A few sweep nets will be provided, but not enough for everyone.
There is room for only 50 people, so it is ESSENTIAL TO RSVP. Clicking on “Going” or “Interested” on this event DOES NOT constitute an RSVP; you need to send a WhatsApp or an email.
There will be NO ENTRY FEE or any other fees involved. The Spider Club will also pay for the food and cooldrinks. You are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks or diet-specific food/snacks.
We will also sell the recently published Kids’ Spiders of Southern Africa (R190), so if you want to buy one, bring some cash. Or, if you already have one and want a personalised message from the author, bring yours with.
