We ask for a donation for attendance at field and certain other events and suggest R100 for adults and R20 for children 11 years and younger, with the option of donating R300 PER FAMILY for an annual subscription in July each year.
Some venues will also require an entrance fee which must be paid by each individual.
For field trips we will supply vials, magnifiers, plastic pill bottles and some other basic collecting equipment, but please bring your own if you have as well as any reference books, a picnic lunch, adequate water, a hat and good walking shoes.

Alice Glockner Provincial Nature Reserve

R50This small reserve is home to an impressive variety of plant and animal species and was proclaimed to preserve the habitat for the rare and threatened Heidelberg Copper Butterfly, Chrisoritis aureus. It is about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg, just past Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve.
Directions: take the N3 going south. Leave the highway at Exit 59 onto the R23, Heidelberg/Balfour Road turning right over the highway, at about 1.3 km turn left onto the Lagerspoort Road. The entrance gate is at – 26.566719, 28.380233 or 26°34’00.2″S 28°22’48.8″E.
